Hawthorne Heights - Pop Slash Post HardCore band to support Nintendo Tour

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Hawthorne Heights is ready to play more than just music on the Nintendo Fusion Tour in the United States.

The modern rock group from Dayton, Ohio, is headlining this year’s edition of the Nintendo outing, which kicks off in Columbus, Ohio. Frontman JT Woodruff says he and his bandmates expect to be laden with Nintendo products to enjoy on their tour bus and backstage.

“I heard they hook you up quite well,” Woodruff says. “We’re all pretty big gamers, so we’re all looking forward to that. We really, really want one of those new Nintendo Wii (gaming consoles) that aren’t out yet. It would be nice if they could hook that up.”

Hawthorne Heights, which is currently in court with its label, Victory Records, will also be working on material for its next album during the tour.

Relient K, Emery, Plain White T’s and the Sleeping are also part of the Nintendo Fusion road show.

Gotta remember, this is consumer interest, not actual sales. Will the release of Pokemon on the DS stimulate the Japanese public to support the Wii?

msn wii vote

The poll partner to the MSN article below. Vote now!

When you’re in third place, nobody takes you seriously. In the case of Nintendo and its risky Wii console, things are only made worse by the fact that you are putting out a console that lacks the DVD gadgetry of its larger competitors and is being marketed around quirky controllers and motion-activated gameplay.

Oh, and don’t get me started on that ridiculous name. Wii? As in “Wii” couldn’t think of a better name? As in “Wii” know that owners are going to be hit with size and overflowing bladder jokes?

However, if you take the time to do more than just laugh at the tea leaves, this may actually be Nintendo’s best chance to matter on the console side. Quite frankly, it may be its last chance, too.

IGN Matt shows us all about the Wii

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Its a little scary to think that the Wii is around the same size as three DVD’s. Even scarier that my desktop background, of the first official Nintendo release of a Wii image is actually larger than the console itself. No power pack, hidden GameCube slots. It just looks great!

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess [ie:spoilers]

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

- Eiji calls the King of Red Lions in TWW a father figure to Link who kept him on the right track. TP won’t have a father figure, but Link will have many friends in the game. There will be one grown-up girl that will be very helpful for him.
- No wii-connect24 or online support.
- The horse is faster than epona in OoT
- The GameCube version was nearly completed when they decided to put in the Wii controls.
- The transition from gc to wii control scheme was quite difficult and they changed it again recently. Now they can concentrate on fine tuning the game.
- When link becomes a wolf his scent becomes keener so that he can find hidden things that he coulnd’t find as normal link.
- Eiji vaguely hints that the Twilight Princess will be someone different from Zelda.
- The mention of Biggoron refers to Biggoron’s Sword only, which is similar in size to the Darknut’s sword.
- Link will have the horse at the beginning, but then when some accidents take place, the two are separated. Later on, Link will find the horse again, and that is when he can name it (at least that’s what the sentence structure implies, but it may be a mistake and we can still name her right at the beginning).
- While the light deity is strangely called a “bull” by the mag, there’s no reference being made to the Toaru goats or anything like that.
- About Midna, Eiji says she won’t be able to stop the Twilight Realm’s progression on her own, so that’s why Link is responsible to help her.
- About Phantom Hourglass, Eiji says something disturbing: “PH is often called a sequel of TWW - that’s not fully correct, as it merely makes use of the same graphics style.”
He also states that they didn’t include any storyline-wise connection between TP and PH, because the games are so different.
- The canoe will be used in other mini-games besides fishing.

Kutagari Announces: Stupid Marketing Tactic

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi has strongly refuted the idea that competitors Xbox 360 and Wii will outsell PS3.

When asked by MCV whether the rival consoles will outstrip Sony’s next-gen machine, he replied simply: “We do not care.”
