Vaguely Positive Brain Training Article

MSNBC has published an article that asks the question, then kinda answers it too, ‘Can brain games keep you young?

Brain Training DS do believe that Brain Training Games can retrain brains.

We see people who start with the average memory performance of people at their age,” says Henry Mahncke, Posit Science’s vice president of research. “And on average, when they’re done, they have the memory performance of people who are 10 years younger than they are.

The article concludes with encouragement from a medical professional, who encourages everyone to perform challenging puzzles or tasks to keep their brain agile.

Maple Story on the DS

Maple Story DS

MapleStory, the delightful MMORPG is coming to the Nintendo DS. We kid you not. While a Western release has yet to be confirmed, the mere though of playing an import sends a shudder down every DS owners spine.

The game is set for release in Korea and Japan at a date yet to be announced. The game is rumoured to be compatible with PC players, and only playable via wireless internet.

Not what we thought

When we heard that a pokemon-esque game was coming to the DS titled ‘Fossil League‘, we were excited. Finally we could capture and train the elderly and use them to fight other old people in the prestigious League.

Unfortunately for us, Fossil League focuses on collecting, training and fighting the other kind of living fossils: dinosaurs. You play as a young boy called Taiga, and battle with various competitors to advance in the storyline.

Cutscenes will be played out in 2D animation, though most gameplay will be 3 Dimensional. Some screens..

November Belonged to Nintendo

In the November NPD video games sales report, Nintendo dominated. Nintendo sold 55% of all video game consoles during the first month in which all three new home consoles were available.

The study also revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was sold to 87% of Wii purchasers. This was highest industry rate of sale for any launch title since introduction of Super Mario 64 on the N64.

US buyers also purchased approximately two games for each console sold in the US. These figures do not include the pack-in game, Wii Sports.

Fighting Fantasy Appears on the DS

Gaming Experts Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson have teamed up with veteran development consultants Bad Management to bring the classic Fighting Fantasy series of books to portable console platforms.

Steve Jackson is convinced that ‘..innovative handheld versions will challenge and entertain a whole new generation of gamers - as well as existing fans - and will form the basis of a new portable gaming franchise.’

The games will be appearing on the DS and on the PSP.

Revealed: Wii demo as Download Wii owners with Internet connection will be able themselves to download demo versions of Wii plays. The assumption gave it already longer, now is official it: Apart from Virtual CONSOLE plays Wii fans with Internet entrance will be able to download also demo versions of Wii titles. Nintendo of Europe claim that they will work as hard as possible to keep stores Wii-stocked, but they have a message for Europeans. ‘The best way to get your Wii, is to get moving!’

The Wii has an unprecendented number of pre-orders in Europe, and Nintendo expects stores to sellout the first wave of Wii’s quickly. The Wii is hoping to capitalize on the success of 7-million European DS sales.

Top selling science fiction author Darren Reid today announced a free ebook collection for the Wii, DS and PS3. The titles will include Two Wizards: A Chronicles of the Shadow Prequel, Xevicom Forever (a graphic novel) and an unnamed project.
