Australians told to ‘Preorder your Wii’ or face shortages

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Nintendo Australia has refused to disclose how many Wiis they will be bringing into the country for its December Australian launch, and has not ruled out the possibility of shortages come launch date.

Nintendo Australia spokesman Vispi Bhopti says while the company is bringing in a significant number of consoles for the Australian launch on December 7, it cannot guarantee “total supply”.

“We will be guaranteeing pre-ordered stock at retail–so that’s definitely the way to go to secure it because we can’t guarantee total supply because we don’t know how many consumers are going to go wild over this,” Bhopti said “We are bringing in a significant number of Wiis into Australia — it won’t be a small drop. But at the same time, our expectations are so big for this product that we would, to err on the safe side, recommend that people pre-order.”

As of now, EB is not taking orders nation wide. Myer is.

Rumours from the N-Sider Front

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Earthbound Zero, Earthbound, Earthbound 2, Metroid 2 (color) are coming to the Virtual Console.

There will be new Virtual Console remakes of certain NES and Game Boy games by first and third party developers. Expect to pay a bit more upon release. Online Wi-Fi for Virtual Console games is still a mystery.

Pokemon Battle Revolution for Wii and Pokemon for Nintendo DS will arrive in North America sometime in March/April.

Arcade and Amiga 500 games will join the Virtual Console fold very soon.

Nintendo is contemplating releasing a Wii version of Tetris, Dr. Mario, and Mahjong exclusively through the Virtual Console. These are not ports of Famicom versions but new versions updated beyond their Nintendo DS counterparts.

Nintendo Wii owners will get to buy Virtual Console games, game soundtracks, wall papers, and other physical items (real life posters and toys for example) with Wii Points. Wii Points can be purchased, earned through buying games, donated from friends, and won through Wi-Fi raffles.

Can it be all true?

age logo

Its not the right logo, but it was easy and quick to grab! The Age [A fairfax paper, one of the few not owned by Rupert Murdoch.. but I deviate] has posted a little information about the Wii and Australia!

‘Hi Blake, Nintendo has said that Wii will cost no more than US$250. That usually translates into A$399, but I reckon it might be the same as GameCube’s launch price - A$329.’

Check it out! and kudos.

Wii gets… packaged. Woot?

Wii Driving Attachment… Whoa.

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

Ubisoft will be shipping a neat attachment with the launch title, GT Pro. Yes neat. Not ‘tacky’. Its just a clip on, plastic wheel to fit your Wiimote into. Whoopdidoo! You don’t pay extra for it, and still might get a little enjoyment out of using it.

Wii Steering Wheel

Does this mark the beginning of an over-saturation of Wii attachments, thus cheapening the controller as a whole? The nunchuks have an accelerometer and the zapper has trigger and added joystick, but the steering wheel looks to add nothing to functionality.

Its free. You don’t have to use it. It will not improve your gameplay if you use it, nor decrease functionality if you dont use it. It really doesnt matter!

Something a little disturbing… A comparison between GTPro [Wii] and Project Gotham Racing 2. [Xbox]

Hopefully the GT Pro screenshots are low resolution, or of an early build of the game.

super paper mario

IGN’s Chief Editor, Matt announced today that Super Paper Mario is not coming to the GameCube. Instead, it is coming to the Wii. Nothing too surprising there. With a bit of luck, the game will be priced to meet its next-gen rating, and we will have another mario game to waste our Sunday Eve’s.

Kudos to BGB
