Elebits and Eledees Screenshots

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

There’s something that is just plain suspicious about releasing the same game under a different name in an alternate region. In case you didn’t know, that is what Konami is doing with Elebits. The fun, alternative title, is known as ‘Eledees‘ in the UK. Fo’ Serious.

UK readers, when Elebits/Eledees is released for you in late Spring, we will scan a decent resolution image of the Elebits cover, so you can print it out and feel acceptance among the rest of us.

Some screenshots of Eledees to ease your suffering.

It's big and yellow!

Opera Flaw Effects Wii Browser

Crash Smash and BASH

Nintendo World Report has spoken out about an Opera flaw that also effects the Wii’s Internet Channel Trial version.

On January 5th, Opera Software revealed two security bugs in version 9.0x of its internet browser. Though patched in its most recently released version 9.10, the Internet Channel Trial Version used on the Wii is still affected since it is powered by Opera 9.0. iDefense Labs, discoverer of the bugs, notified Opera Software on November 16th of last year.

The bug crashes the system, though what whether the code execution that happens on Opera 9 browsers when affected by the flaw also occurs on the Internet Channel is unknown.

The flaw is minor, and the Internet Channel Trial is still well worth the download. Else, wait for a Trial Version patch or the final Opera Wii Browser to be released.

Wireless Nunchuk So Not Happening

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

What is like your verdict?

A *hic* reporter at Verdicts.co.uk claims that ‘An unconfirmed source has revealed that Nintendo are currently working on a wireless version of their Nunchuck attachment for the Wii remote.

Nintendo may have a few issues with the Wii, but for the most part, they analyzed the Wii and removed safety hazards. A second wireless controller? The mere thought of it screams, “LAWSUIT! LAWSUIT!” Without a doubt, the Nunchuk would be much easier to throw than the Wiimote.

The only feasible way Nintendo could release a wireless Nunchuk would be to tether the Nunchuk to the players hands. Impracticality is a console-killer.

Game of the Year 2006

TIME Game of the Year 2006. Wii Sports. See it coming? Well TIME has already had a love affair with Wii Sports, also declaring it one of the best video-games ever.

There is no possible way to say this enough times: great graphics don’t make great games. Perfect Dark Zero looked like a Titian, but it was a snooze. Wii Sports—a mini-sports anthology that includes golf, boxing, tennis, baseball and bowling—looks like Colecovision. The little guys on the screen don’t even have arms. But it’s hilarious, and it shows off the power of the motion-sensitive Wii controller to put you right in the game, sweating and yelling and trying crazy spins and lunges and angles. The tennis game alone is worth the price of admission. Which is nothing, since it comes free with the Wii.

You can spend hours viewing the full list here.

Question: Keeping the Wii Blue Light On?

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Innit that a pwetty!

crazyk1d wrote to us..

Is there a way to keep the blue light on?

While there is no official way to keep the blue-light on, there is a simple trick that you can use to keep your Wii shinin’ bright. You need to be connected to the internet for this trick to work.

If you do not have a confirmed email account to correspond with your Wii..

  1. Open the Wii Message Board
  2. Add a new contact with your personal email address
  3. Fire off a message to the new contact
  4. Reply to the email you receive from your Wii

The trick now is to NOT open the email on your Wii Message Board. Now, provided you don’t open the mail, the Blue Wii LED will stay lit!
