January 10th, 2007 by Kit Allen
Aww nuts. We kinda wanted it to be true. It would have been exciting n’ all. The emotion is making me type all Forrest Gump-y. Ziff Davies threw an email over to Destructoid to say that Dell hadn’t purchased 1up.com. Dang.

‘For Laurn Schroeder, protecting her first grade girls is a priority. “[They’re] innocent, and we want to try and keep them that way,” she said.
But maybe not so innocent…
” But because the Wii, the PS3 and other game consoles have Internet access, it’s easy for kids to access porn.‘
It’s easy to avoid porn as a kid these days. Heck, thanks to proxies with inbuilt nanny systems and sites such as Yahooligans!, showing your children an internet without pornography is easy-cakes.
Lady, supervise your children when they are in a situation where they might access foul materials, and you will be all set for a family friendly Wii web browsing experience.
The Sony Blunder Time Line
January 10th, 2007 by Kit AllenEvery now and then there is a website article that stands out from all the mismatched patchwork of random that makes up the internet. This one, is simple. Its just a chronological time line of Sony’s mistakes in recent times.
From sinking Lik-Sang to labeling the Wii ‘more fun‘, all of the great moments over the last few months are listed with links to relevant articles.
Kudos to Sony though, their attitude despite all the negative media directed to them is upbeat. Well, either its an incredibly resilient mood, or perhaps Sony just took articles like Analyst: “I cannot imagine a PlayStation 4″ with a sense of smugness, knowing that evenĀ the most intelligent beings couldn’t fathom how insanely brilliant the PS4 is going to be.

Boston Mayor: Video Games are like Porn
January 10th, 2007 by Kit Allen
Live in Massachusetts? Well Boston Mayor Thomas Menino may make life difficult for you soon if you are a minor. The Mayor, with help from the prolific Jack Thompson, has proposed a piece of legislature that places video games in the same category as pornography.
If a video game meets any of these criteria, than youth will not be able to purchase the title.
‘Depicting violence in a manner patently offensive to prevailing standards in the adult community, so as to appeal predominantly to the morbid interest in violence of minors.
Is patently contrary to prevailing standards of adults in the county where the offense was committed as to suitable material for such minors.
Lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value for minors.‘
As much fun as it would be to pin the approval of this bill this to the characteristic Mayor, the fact that Jack Thompson is involved in this usually means that the amount of media attention that the issue will generate, will ensure that the bill never be passed.
